Lecture Notes: Hierarchical Radiosity

چکیده

Considering two large surfaces far away from each other, it is clear that if each surface is subdivided into k elements, then computing k2 form factors to represent the exchange of energy between the two surfaces is an overkill. While the energy arriving at a surface must be represented accurately using many elements, when the surface is functioning as a light source, the variations in energy between the element can often be replaced by their average value.

Lecture Notes: Radiosity

These notes are, for the most part, a summary of Chapter 3 from the Wallace and Cohen radios-ity book. So far, we saw two forms to write down the integral equation describing the radiance L(x, ω) function at every point and every direction in the scene. The first form expresses reflected light as an integral over all incoming directions: Alternatively, we can write the reflected radiance as an ...

Wavelet Methods for Radiosity

The computation of radiosity ( W m ), i.e. power per unit area, on a given surface is a widely used technique in computer graphics to solve for the illumination in an environment. Radiosity is governed by an integral equation which arises from a more general integral equation known as the rendering equation [18] when one assumes that all reflection occurs isotropically. Solving the underlying i...

Factors affecting students tendency of Univercity students to Lecture Notes

Introduction: Many studies detected factors contributing to the students’ tendency to lecture notes. This study aimed at evaluating the factors affecting students tendency to lecture notes in Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences. Methods: In this descriptive study, 179 students from medicine, nursing & midwifery, health, and Paramedicine schools were selected through stratified random...

Lecture Notes #13: Reliability & Structural Equation Modeling 13-1

These lecture notes present some basic intuitions underlying structural equations modeling (SEM). If you find this technique useful in your research, I suggest that you take a semester-long course on SEM and/or hierarchical linear model (HLM). It turns out that SEM and HLM are essentially the same technique but some things are easier to implement in one versus the other so disciplines tend to f...

Hierarchical Monte Carlo Radiosity

Hierarchical radiosity and Monte Carlo radiosity are branches of radiosity research that focus on complementary problems. The synthesis of both families of radiosity algorithms has however received little attention until now. In this paper, a procedure is presented that bridges the gap. It allows any proposed hierarchical refinement strategy to be investigated in the context of an arbitrary dis...
